Featuring Educator Tyrone Brookins

 

Tyron Brookins has a long and distinguished history in education. A native of Dallas, Texas, he earned a B.S.Degree in Math Education from Wiley College, followed by a Master’s Degree in Teacher Leadership and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Minnesota. He has served as an assistant principal and principal for many area schools. Currently, he is principal of Roseville Area Middle School. Brookins works to ensure that children develop strong academic and social foundations. He is a strong believer in education and its ability to literally change lives and give hope.

Career and INtership Fair

Career and Internship Fair will be 2/6/2018 (Student Success Day) 3-6PM in the Fine Arts Lobby.

This fair is aimed at areas related to Business and IT but focused on internship and employment opportunities for other academic programs as well. We anticipate around 25 employers will be at the Fine Arts Building on the campus of Inver Hills Community College!

IME-BECAS Scholarships at Inver Hills

Inver Hills Community College received a $4,000 IME-Becas grant from the Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior (IME—Institute for Mexicans Abroad) Fellowship Program via the Consulate of Mexico in Saint Paul. Several Students have been awarded several $500 scholarships to students to be able to enroll in classes in Spring 2018. There is more information if you follow the link.

Transfer Visit Day at Hamline

Take advantage of a non-class day and tour Hamline University for Transfer Visit Day.  On Monday, Feb 19th, (Presidents Day), Hamline will host an event from 1-3:30pm.  Students will have the opportunity to have a Hamline class experience, hear from a panel of staff and students, tour campus and receive an unofficial evaluation of your credits.  RSVP at www.hamline.edu/tvd or 6951-523-2207.

Biology Career Panel on Student Success Day

Tuesday, February 6 at 12 pm – 1 pm in HH 317

Is your major undecided? Have you ever considered a career in biology?

Come and learn about the wide variety of careers in this exciting field.  Professionals will share insights, lessons learned and explain the diverse educational & career pathways that led them to their current positions.  Most importantly,  ask your own questions!!

The Biology Career Panel is hosted by the Inver Hills Biology Club.  The Biology Club meets every Tuesday from 2-3pm in Heritage Hall Room 313.  Join us each week as we plan fun events on campus and learn about biology in the news!
