As you may have heard, the Minnesota State Board of Trustees failed the search for a new chancellor. The BOT named former Interim Metro State President, Devinder Malhotra, as the interim chancellor (beginning August 1, 2017). While it is unfortunate that our system will go through the search process again, finding the best overall candidate to be Chancellor is a laudable goal.
Devinder Malhotra is a friend and a colleague. When he became the interim president at Metro State a few years ago he revitalized the school. As a peer, he embraced the two-year colleges as equals. I can’t think of a more reasonable and committed educator to take on the interim chancellor’s role.
When Dr. Malhotra is available, I will invite him to visit IHCC and get a chance to know us better.
Feel free to call, email or otherwise connect with me with any questions or comments you may have.
